From the Beginning

From the Beginning

Welcome! I can’t begin to explain how happy we are to have you visit our site - this is a project of passion for us and we’re so excited to share it with you. We figured we’d start off by getting some of the big questions out of the way and giving you an understanding of what Collective Socks is about… here we go.

We founded Collective Socks for a couple of reasons, but there are 2 main ones.

1) I’ve never really found a pair of socks that I was totally in love with and it started to annoy me. I’ve owned socks from almost every major brand and while all of them were good, none were ‘perfect’… at least for me. Too thick, too much or not enough compression there was always something off - so much so that I went sockless 90% of the time. I’m a firm believer in ‘put up or shut up’ and eventually the irritation turned into inspiration.

2) My wife was laid off in the middle of a Pandemic. Now I know this part isn’t a unique experience, but for me it was the fire that I needed to put my inspiration (see above) into action. I was tired of being at the mercy of an employer and wanted to create something that would provide some security.

We spent the majority of 2020 putting the pieces together, finding and testing suppliers and trying to figure out what we were trying to do. Selling socks is one thing, but finding your ‘why’ is something completely different. We’re givers and we decided that giving would be the core of Collective Socks, and the 20% was born. For those of you who don’t know, 20% of our revenue is donated to charities - St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital is our primary charity but we’re always willing to work with charities to help (if you know of any PLEASE let us know!). Every pair of socks (or any other product) you purchase creates a donation to an incredibly worthwhile charity and at the end of each month we make our donation to charity. 2 months in and it’s becoming one of my favorite times of the month - strange to see cash leaving as a fun time, I know, but man it’s cool.

This is our story, the beginning anyway. While this may (or may not) be interesting to you hopefully the next part definitely is… why Collective Socks is different.

Seriously, I have love for each and every small (and large) business out there working to generate revenue - especially those in the world of socks… but we’re just a bit different. Maybe not by much, but definitely different. This is about having fun for us - the world gets too heavy some times and work is the same, we needed something that would allow us to express our desire to have fun with this and I hope you see that in our marketing, social media and general outlook and interactions. Rodney will keep us on the path… I mean how can you see that rooster and not want to have a bit of fun? After all, Rodney is the reason we have our slogan ‘Pretty with a Purpose’.

The designs are all created by me and my sketches are sent to our manufacturer who asks a great deal of questions and then gets them into production - it’s the easiest process I’ve been a part of. Except for customs. The goal of our designs is to give you options that suit your mood, your outfit and your environment - even with the low socks, after all just because someone can’t see them doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have some fun with your socks!

If you’re just stumbling onto this, please check us out on Facebook (@Collective Socks) and Instagram (@collective_socks) and you’ll get some visibility into what we’re about.

We’re 8 weeks into this adventure being ‘live’ and we’re still working out some of the kinks but we want you to be happy with your purchase and if you’re not, we’ll do what we can to make it right for you.

We love all of you - and hope for great runs and low rounds… or success in whatever your passion is!

JB
